Trim Levels
The Colorado has four trim levels. The 2022 Colorado trim levels are the standard Work Truck, and higher trims LT, Z71, and ZR2. The Colorado has a handsome body. Its square wheel arches, hefty fender flares, and an air dam swappable for a skid plate or red tow hook flanks add a buff physique to the classic pickup truck style. The Colorado comes in enticing colors such as brilliant Bright Blue Metallic, a cheery Cherry Red Tintcoat, and a tangy Tangier Orange.
Engine
The Colorado has three engine types. For the basic engine, the Colorado has a standard 2.5 liter 4-cylinder. This engine delivers a rawly strong 200 horsepower and 191-pound feet of torque. This translates to towing capability of 3,500 pounds. Its first optional engine is a 3.6-liter DOHC V6. This engine offers 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The higher tier engine can tow up to 7,000 pounds. The final alternative is its DURAMAX 2.8-liter turbodiesel for the ZR2 trim. This engine offers 181 horsepower with 396 pound-feet of torque. This engine tows up to 7,700 pounds. The drive type is rear-wheel-drive.
Performance
Performance varies according to the engine for the Colorado. For gas mileage, the Colorado gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg for highway driving with the standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. With the 3.6-Liter DOHC V6 trim engine, however, gas mileage is lower, with 18 mpg for in the city and 25 miles per gallon for highway driving. The DURAMAX gets better gas mileage than the preceding engine, with an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg for highway driving. The DOHC and the DURAMAX require the Trailering Equipment package to pull heavy loads. All these engines are great for city hauling, putting a lot of strength in a small package that can maneuver on tight city roads.
Interior
The Colorado is robust in infotainment features. The standard infotainment features are a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, and two USB ports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system. For braking, the Colorado has four-wheel ABS and four-wheel disc brakes. Electronic stability control and traction control keep the vehicle on the road.
