1. Sundial Bridge and the Turtle Bay Exploration Park

The 700 feet long Sundial Bridge in the 300-acre Turtle Bay Exploration Park, one of Redding’s most iconic attractions, is a pedestrian bridge over the Sacramento River and one of the largest working sundials in the world. The sundial shadow moves approximately one foot per minute and traces such an enormous arc that it only shows the time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Take a walk across the bridge, go on a hike through the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, admire the beautiful surroundings in the McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, see more than 64 species of animals, and visit the Turtle Bay Museum to learn more about art, history, science, horticulture, and forestry.
